Oxford — A City of British Intellect

I had long wanted to see the campus of the University of Oxford, one of the world’s most renowned institutions. More than anything, I wanted to walk—slowly, step by step—through the same campus where David once followed his own path of learning.

After finishing a work trip to Windsor, I took some time off in London and then headed to Oxford. I stayed for a few days, hoping to feel—up close—how the name “city of intellect” lives and breathes here: in quiet lanes, in the courtyards of the colleges, between weathered stone walls and soft stretches of grass.

 

Oxford (A City of British Intellect)

Oxford lies about 90 km northwest of London, set between the Thames (known in Oxford as “the Isis”) and the River Cherwell. The city’s defining symbol is, without a doubt, the University of Oxford. For centuries it has stood at the heart of scholarship and education, and it has produced many distinguished figures across fields—including numerous British prime ministers.
